Business Services in India
Unlike goods, business services cannot be stockpiled for future use and must be delivered when demanded. They comprise a wide range of activities, such as banking, insurance, warehousing and communication. Business enterprises require many of these services because they want their employees to have easy access to funds; they need the assurance of security for their assets, plant and machinery; they need transport companies for transportation of raw materials and finished goods; and they need telecommunications and postal services for inter and intra-departmental communications.
The service industry is a highly competitive sector, especially in developing countries like India. It offers a variety of jobs and is an important source of income for many households. In addition, the sector provides various social benefits such as health and education. Moreover, it has also contributed to the economy by providing a variety of employment opportunities and improving productivity.
